EKKOES

For my final year multimedia project, I co-created 'Ekkoes,' a virtual reality experience developed in Unity that delves into the narrative of a mind invaded by depression. My responsibilities for this project included audio production, character design and creation, and C# scripting

Audio Production

One of my primary responsibilities for this project was to record and edit audio for the experience's narration and sound effects and to compose the score. My tool of choice was Ableton Live for recording and composing, and Reaper for mixing in 5.1 surround.

CHARACTER DESIGN

I designed each of the characters that appear in the expeience, the four 'Hugrs' and Nidhogg, the Serpant.

CHARACTER CREATION

Based on my sketches and references, I then sculpted the characters body in ZBrush, modelled the tongue, teeth, and any accessories in Blender, created any clothes in Marvelous Designer and textured each of the characters in Substance Painter. Once each character was polished, I would then rig it for animation in Blender using Auto Rig Pro

CREATING THE VR EXPERIENCE

I also coded the functionality of the experience in C#, controlling the visibility of objects, changing scenes on cue, swapping sky textures and creating transitions and effects. The full Ekkoes experience can be viewed in 360 degrees below
